I guess my resume really needs work, huh
You know the economy is in the shitter when the upcoming Playstation 3 game/content creator Littlebigplanet is suddenly a legitimate tool with which to pursue a job. But that’s apparently a realistic possibility, according to the game’s art director, Kareem Ettouney.
I think this game can definitely help people get jobs in the industry. Imagine a guy going into a job with five levels of LittleBigPlanet and you get to play his creation. But not only that, imagine what that guy has already done within that world in terms of building up an audience. People know his levels and know his name. They want to see his new creation. Future game creators will enter a job interview already known. We hope LittleBigPlanet plays a part in getting new game developers jobs and also making them stars.
While I don’t realistically think Littlebigplanet is going to get me hired somewhere, stuff like this keeps intriguing me about the game more and more. Yesterday, for instance, I was reading about how the game can essentially function as a creation tool for all sorts of content. This is, put simply, an art and graphic design student’s dream come true. I’m almost as excited to see what other people come up with as I am to fool around with the game myself when it comes out on October 21st. The big question, though, is what exactly I’ll do with it. Typically with games like this, I’m content to make a character and play around a bit before getting bored. But with the sheer amount of customizable options in Littlebigplanet, I’m pretty excited about the prospect of creating my own levels or bringing some of my other crazy ideas to life.
$60 for all that? And my imagination is the only limit? Sign me up.
